Supervision
Reflective Supervision Services in Tāhuna Queenstown & Across Aotearoa New Zealand
Reflective supervision is recognized as a cornerstone of competent social work and counselling practice in New Zealand.
Leah, a Registered Social Worker (SWRB) with advanced supervision training, provides a gentle, collaborative space where practitioners can slow down and make sense of their work.
Her approach is rooted in curiosity and compassion.
In her own words, Leah believes “reflection is at the heart of meaningful practice,” and she strives to create a “calm, nurturing space” for you to explore your work with honesty and care. This supportive process helps you notice patterns in your practice, identify clear next steps, and build confidence and resilience in your role
Key Benefits of Reflective Supervision
Gain clarity and insight. By reflecting on your practice and the “why” behind your responses, you manage complexity and improve decision-making.
Reduce stress and prevent burnout. Quality supervision is linked to lower stress and burnout levels and greater practitioner well-being.
Build confidence and empowerment. A strong supervisory relationship empowers you to make confident choices and feel valued in your work.
Meet professional standards. All registered social workers in NZ must have regular supervision (at least monthly). Working with Leah fulfills the SWRB’s requirement and preference for a registered social worker supervisor.
Who Can Access These Services?
All registered New Zealand social workers are required to have regular professional supervision.
Leah meets the SWRB’s preferred criteria as a supervisor: she holds a current SWRB registration and has formal supervision training. Her services are ideal for social workers at any career stage (public, NGO, health or community sectors) who need a safe space to reflect.
Other helping professionals and mental health practitioners are also welcome, subject to their own regulatory guidelines.
(Please note: counsellors accredited with NZAC should confirm supervisor eligibility under NZAC’s rules – NZAC members typically require an NZAC-approved supervisor.)
